If you look at the dates and timeframes, all sources are verifiable. The bug only lasted for about 12 hours, roughly between March 12–15, and something similar happened again around April 3–5. So it’s very likely we were just unlucky and hit that exact window. And with the current rules, any tag can cause issues if it’s used too repetitively or aggressively, since that can be flagged as spam-like behavior. That means switching hashtags only really makes sense if we also adjust how we use them and follow the current rules. Personally, I don’t mind whether the tags are changed or not, I just think we need to adapt how we trend.

I don’t think the hashtag had anything to do with the suspensions. Apparently, this was the issue: X had a problem with a new spam filter. Nikita Bier mentioned that it caused a wave of false suspensions, but most of them are being reversed now. At the same time, X has been tightening its anti-bot systems a lot, so some normal user behavior may have been flagged by mistake. So it’s likely a mix of a bug and stricter automated detection, rather than something targeted at specific fandoms. • Mid March 2026 (around March 12–15): A bug in a new spam filter caused a wave of false suspensions (reported to last around ~12 hours) • After that: X tightened its anti-bot detection systems • Early April 2026 (around April 3–5): Another wave of suspensions happened, likely due to stricter automated detection That really matches what happened, and since we’re very active with trending, it probably affected us more than others. So I don’t think it really matters which hashtag we use, if we overdo it, we’ll probably run into problems again 🥺 It’s been said multiple times that trending the way we used to is no longer really possible. X has already removed certain metrics and made several changes, and they’re likely not finished yet. If you look around (for example on Reddit or in other communities), you can see that this didn’t only happen to us. We were probably hit harder because we were extremely active with these trends, which may have made our activity stand out more to the system.

@COREOPS Why is it that when we were trending for Fanival, my account had no issues at all, but as soon as I used the series hashtag not even 20 tweets in my account started having problems?

@Princeley242 It’s not about a specific hashtag. Accounts with very high or repetitive activity were more likely to get flagged, regardless of the hashtag used, so it could happen with any tag. And here are all the sources if you want to check

So Perth had to pick up Santa and Phuwin, but since Santa lives far away, Perth and Santa would have to get up earlier to be able to pick up Phuwin, and Santa decided to go on his own so he could sleep more. That's something I would definitely do 😭😭😭😭
