After months of Roc Nation CEO, Desiree Perez, trying her to force her own daughter to waive her HIPAA rights, complaining that Demoree refused broad medical authorizations, and issuing “overbroad”subpoenas to Baptist Health, Jackson Memorial & Dr. Erika Martinez for those exact same records (which Judge Louis largely quashed on April 2 as a fishing expedition)…
Lara Gatz of Reed Smith, Team Perez Counsel, just filed a Motion to Seal Demoree’s ENTIRE deposition transcript.
The justification?
HIPAA Privacy rights…Yepp! You read that correctly.
The very law-given shield they tried to waive from Demoree as a patient…Team Desiree Perez is now trying to use it themselves as a way to make sure the public never sees their deposition questions or Demoree’s answers.
Team Perez cites additional concerns and things for different parties and non-parties. It’s not clear if the “information” is based on facts or their own allegations.
In the Certificate of Good Faith Conferral, Demoree’s counsel already stated: redaction is more appropriate than a full seal, and they respectfully request an opportunity to respond.
That signals the defense may not be preoccupied with protecting Demoree’s rights, but rather their own public image. They claim to be worried about online harassment, among other things.

Perez et al. (Case No. 1:25-cv-22162-BB, consolidated) They arrive just 11 days after Magistrate Judge Lauren F. Louis’s April 2, 2026 hearing and order, where she granted Demoree’s motion to quash certain overbroad subpoenas, denied (without prejudice) a prior request to extend her deposition time, and admonished her counsel about the proper use of “instructions not to answer” during depositions. Breakdown of both filings below ⬇️ 1. 📂 Consolidated Plaintiffs’ (Team Perez) Motion for Leave to Extend Demoree Hadley’s Deposition by 7 Hours (Doc 358) The Perez-side family plaintiffs are seeking a full additional 7 hours to question Demoree.
