Why are you incapable of looking after your own before foreigners? The leader of Ukraine is nothing short of a dictatorial crook, and yet you hand him £300bn for the next 100 years. Putin won’t be around for the next 15 years, if that? So why the blatant sacrifice of the UK taxpayers to suit European interests? US, UK and EU taxpayers have, not for the first time and certainly not for the last, been swindled. This is miserable joke that has gone way too far.

Today I spoke to world leaders on how we can drive forward action to support a just and lasting peace for Ukraine. We must keep increasing the pressure on Putin to come to the table. And we must keep strengthening the support to our Ukrainian friends.

@Keir_Starmer And support Canada, and the rest of the world. You must fight back, and match American tariffs. Otherwise we look like traitors and victims of bullying. You wouldn't accept such a toxic bullying romantic relationship!

London. A meaningful and warm meeting with Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer. During our talks, we discussed the challenges facing Ukraine and all of Europe, coordination with partners, concrete steps to strengthen Ukraine’s position, and ending the war with a just peace, along with robust security guarantees. A principled statement of support from the Prime Minister and an important decision: today, in our presence, Ukraine and the United Kingdom signed a Loan Agreement. This loan will enhance Ukraine’s defense capabilities and will be repaid using revenues from frozen Russian assets. The funds will be directed toward weapons production in Ukraine. This is true justice – the one who started the war must be the one to pay. I thank the people and government of the United Kingdom for their tremendous support from the very beginning of this war. The spat in the White House last night is regrettable and will make Putin feel like the winner. But this is not the end of the story, far from it. A peace deal is essential and Ukraine needs the right security guarantees.

@DPJHodges We should have made peace with Hitler, or better still never have gone to war. Europe would be much richer and more successful now if we had.

I've read just about every book there is about the 1930's and the prelude to the Second World War. I still found it hard to understand how we'd allowed ourselves to let appeasement of Hitler dictate our policy. Watching people in the UK still trying to defend and legitimise Trump and attack Zelensky after what we saw yesterday makes me finally understand. There were traitors in our midst then. And there are traitors in our midst now.

One of the astonishing things about the Oval Office Omnishambles is that JD Vance manages to be worse than Trump. It might seem impossible to be worse than a President who is bullying a leader representing a country standing up against annihilation but, credit to JD, he finds a way.
