Deputy pulls over woman for running a stop sign and assaulted the woman in the front of the cruiser after she was already cuffed. Camden County Deputy Christine "Christi" Newman pulled over Charis Faria for running a stop sign. What should have been a routine citation turned into a felony assault. After escalating the stop and pulling Faria from her truck, the deputy assaulted Faria while she was already in handcuffs. Perhaps the most chilling part of the body cam is the aftermath. While Faria cuffed and terrified, another deputy on the scene was caught on camera reassuring Newman, telling her: "You do what you’ve got to do... she was non-compliant." Even a 911 dispatcher on a ride-along told her, "I think you did everything great." While the District Attorney and the GBI were beginning to review this very footage, the Camden County Sheriff’s Office took a different approach. Just two months after this assault—they officially named Christi Newman "Deputy of the Month," celebrating her on their official Facebook page. The "justice" was slow, but it eventually arrived: ​A Grand Jury saw the truth and indicted Newman on six counts, including felony Aggravated Assault, Making a False Statement, and Violation of Oath. ​ The "False Statement" charge stems from Newman’s official report where she claimed Faria "jerked her arm" to resist—a claim the video evidence completely debunked. ​ Newman was fired immediately following the indictment. ​ As of 2026, the criminal case is still moving through the Georgia court system, and a federal civil rights lawsuit is pending. ​This is why we watch the footage. Accountability shouldn't be a "choice" made a year later; it should be the standard from day one. It's a shame it took a DA office to catch the problem that he local sheriff department should have been all over.

This mom just wanted to give her daughter $5 cash so she could buy a water bottle after forgetting hers at home. Sounds simple, right? Nope. The school doesn’t accept cash anymore — everything has to go through the online lunch account. What should have been a quick hand-off turned into a full-blown bureaucracy nightmare: confusing apps, multiple websites, phone calls to the school, hunting for a student ID number, password resets because of a data breach… all before she finally gave up and just drove over with the forgotten water bottle. It’s crazy how modern “convenient” systems can make paying for something as basic as a $5 water bottle so much more difficult than just handing over cash used to be. Have you ever gotten stuck in one of those ridiculous school (or government, or company) bureaucracy loops over something tiny?
