@DurmBull @hamentaschennow Property tax rates only tell part of the story. When you add in other fees and service charges, Durham compares favorably to other cities in NC. Hey @ProTemJillianJ @Javiera4Durham @LeoForDurham — do you have a copy of that chart prepared by budget staff that shows this?

Let's be really clear: the budget @JillianDURM, @Javiera4Durham, @LeoForDurham and Middleton voted for raises Durham firefighter pay by 7%. It also funds a pay study that's likely to increase them further, substantially. It does this without raising taxes at the very last minute.

@danbock10 @JillianDURM @dhacomm @DHACEO @CityofDurhamNC Initial thoughts: free/cheap land, more affordable developers & design & construction companies, more skilled labor including PM & admin staff to coordinate the projects, more tax credits (or ideally a better system for state or federal subsidy), & more private equity partners.

Opening Day at The Joyce! This brand new Durham Housing Authority senior housing building is just steps from downtown amenities and the tobacco trail. I love that DHA & the city are committed to keeping affordable homes in downtown! Now we just need to do it another 50 times. 🤩
