@WeVennStudios The feedback was basically "There isn't much reason to not buy all you can that might work." So the overhaul will make it more similar to other roguelike quota games where you have a limit on how many you can have but make them more powerful/interesting.

@ProfBytes ooh... relic overhaul… which feedback still forced the biggest cut?

I'm overhauling the relics for Loaded Dice due to feedback. One tester who gave feedback that made me decide that also said he still played the demo for a few hours once he figured out the game's basic mechanics. Still need that tutorial. #indiedev #gamedev

Seems like Loaded Dice's relics aren't working out well. I have some ideas for overhauls though. Instead of getting a pile of relics, I'm thinking a small number that level up and become more complicated as they level. Simple mockup. #indiedev #gamedev

@DashDashDead I bet you could work with the devs for the other games to have a single bundle on Steam for them all too. I don't think Loaded Dice is far enough along yet, unfortunately. Steam page isn't even public.

I had an idea for a sticker for a long time of "rewind" where it would trigger relics another time. The game would need a large overhaul for it. Had an idea to instead have it apply previous stickers and the face again. #indiedev #gamedev #indiegame

@nekokatu0112 If crowdfunding fails, you can also sell the files through a website for people to print off for themselves. A lot of indie TTRPGs do that.

Sabiam que o jogo Stray fez mocap com gatos reais? Eu fiquei sabendo agora 🤣. Imagina colocar essas coisas todas nos gatos e eles aceitarem de boas? Atores Profissionais. 📽️ u/Just_a_Player2

Commission for LD! A simple, cute commission for a hotel door hanger! Wouldn't it be neat to sell something like this at a con? Maybe one day I'll come up with something #dungeonsanddragons #doorhanger #fantasy

I've been thinking about how to make colors matter in Loaded Dice, and I realized that I can have the primary colors give one of score/mult/expo and the composite colors give half of 2. Now to implement it. #indiegame #indiedev #gamedev

@DUSKdev It's honestly not that surprising. Microsoft has been making terrible decisions like this consistently for years. A new face isn't going to change their incentive structure or core beliefs. The fact that layoffs are tech instead of management shows they haven't learned.

Two things can be true 1) The decision probably made perfect executive brain sense on paper 2) Gutting one of the most beloved studios of all time after a generational run of 3 of the best shooters of all time is fucking stupid
John Carmack@ID_AA_Carmack

I have been trying to find something meaningful to say about the Id Software layoffs. My “Microsoft will probably be a good steward of the brand” statement isn’t aging well, and this is certainly going to dampen the mood of the founder reunion at QuakeCon next month. I’m saddened, but I can’t muster anger or outrage over it. I don’t have access to the books, but I suspect that Id Software was a marginal business from Microsoft’s perspective. I believe the reports that Minecraft revenues have been carrying several other studios. To continue being produced long term, games need to succeed, not just be beloved. Games are competing with every other option for spending your leisure time and money, and the competition is brutal. You can’t rule out the possibility that executives are idiots, but that shouldn’t be your default belief. I don’t think there is any obvious path that would have doubled the revenue from Id games. Could they have gotten more with a different pricing strategy? Could they have created more things for fans to buy? Could they have cost effectively marketed in a way that reached more players that would have loved and bought the games? Could they have changed the game designs and broadened the appeal to more players without alienating existing ones? Could they have produced the games at a lower cost, faster or cheaper? I really don’t know. The game isn’t over yet, and I hope the studio rallies through.

@PlayGameGen Graphics changes (no more white void) and keyboard controls, mostly. There won't be a content update for a while, but I do have some ideas of things that should still be in the demo.

@ProfBytes that dice-as-letters key art spelling out the title is a clever touch, really sells the tabletop-luck vibe. what changed in this demo update, balance tweaks or new content? grabbing the itch build to try it.
