On Juneteenth, we commemorate the anniversary of the delayed but welcome news of freedom reaching the enslaved Black folks in Galveston, Texas. It’s a reminder that even in the darkest hours, there is cause to hope — and a reason to keep building a country that lives up to its highest ideals.

🧵 Meanwhile, in Oklahoma… Gazette publisher Bruce Willingham left a voice activated recorder in the McCurtain County official’s (including the Sheriff) meeting because he suspected they were illegally doing county business after the public meeting ended. What he uncovered was a murder plot & a racist discussion of hanging Black people. Gov Stitt may have called on county officials to resign but instead, the Sheriff is calling for an investigation into the authenticity of the tape. You can’t make this shit up. #RachelMaddow

We are deeply saddened to inform our community of a death that occurred on the University of Houston campus today. The person who passed away has not been identified and there is no threat to campus safety. We will be working closely to provide support to all who are impacted.

@Acyn Many founding fathers believed religion gave people a moral compass but they absolutely wanted a division of church and state. So important that it was the first part of the first amendment.

Kayleigh: It’s ironic that god, someone you can trust, is being run out of society. We know he was integral part of our founding. Separation of church and state, found nowhere in our founding documents. It's been utilized to create a religion of secularism.

When we Christians become convinced that only we know the truth, that anyone who opposes us is on the side of evil, and things will only get better if we are in charge of all positions of power, that is when we know we are no longer worshiping God. We are worshiping ourselves.
