The full trial report will be submitted for publication soon. The protocol and statistical analysis plan were published before end of trial to ensure validity.

Standing by for results. 232 infants (future adults) in 15 PICUs across England, Scotland, and Wales, participated in this randomised controlled trial, generating the highest standard of evidence to inform clinical practice.

The results of the BESS trial will be announced at 14:40GMT today at the European Society of Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care, Alicante, Spain.
