Be careful using ChatGPT for historic cocktail recipes. It often gets them wrong. My most recent interchange researching Chicago Fizz is a good example. I drilled down, teaching it by providing documentation of its errors. Eventually it learned, & I found source of its bias.

What makes red vermouth red? Not its color, which is more auburn brown. Likely so-called because its Italian moniker rosso means red, but generally not made from red wine grape. Rather, white wine flavored w/botanicals & sweetened w/caramelized sugar, giving it its darker color.

Recipe translation: in a mixing glass, with 2-3 lumps of ice the size of a nut, measure: 55% gin, 10% lemon juice, 15% orgeat (almond) syrup, 20% triple sec. Frost rim. Strange, specifies amount of ice, but percentages of other ingredients. My interpretation: convert to ml.

To truly appreciate what vermouth can bring to a #martini, you should really try drinking #vermouth. Definitely best w/ ice. Compare different brands & styles. Understand flavor & aroma. Imagine hints of that with your favorite gin, or even vodka. Then try in a dry martini.

@QSDistillery This brandy reminds me of an Armagnac. Perhaps because it is pot distilled with just a few plates, like that French brandy. It’s distilled from a wine from Vidal blanc grapes, bred originally as a substitute for traditional Cognac grapes, but popular in northern US for ice wine.

CDC director says vaccines can’t prevent transmission anymore, so why would any government, organization, or company mandate them?

It's been more than a year since the bartenders at @QSDistillery in Riverside shook up cocktails for a thirsty public. But the craft distillery's cocktail bar will be back in business on weekends beginning July 24. rblandmark.com/2021/07/13/riv…

Getting ready to review the @Ardbeg Scorch, and I’d love to hear all your opinions on Ardbeg in general. Love? Hate? Love/Hate? Do you chase the Limited Editions and/or the Committee Releases? What’s the most you’ve ever paid for an Ardbeg? Other thoughts?

Met an older gentleman at the bar tonight. He gave me his card. After he gave me his card, he said, “it’s easier to hand this to the bartender than explain what I want.” I’m a little in love right now.
