While the study has limitations due to its design which cannot fully account for the effects of chance, confounding and bias, it adds to the growing importance of understanding how our diets can impact mental health, and why “real world” eating patterns must be better understood.

Quoted on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme as well as several other media articles, Professor Sumantra Ray (NNEdPro Global Institute), emphasised the need to focus on nutrient-rich diets that support cognitive health, including omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin B12.
