@BritniDWrites @TheRock Long shot, but…I have a Black woman PhD student at Emory who is writing a dissertation on the history of Black women professional wrestlers. She’d love to get involved.

Shortly after this, I walked over to the @TheRock while he was chatting someone up, extended my hand and asked him to be in our doc on Black wrestlers & fans. Fingers crossed 🤞🏾🤞🏾

Man I was emotional here, because my heart was full listening to everyone’s powerful speeches, then “My Way” was played as I walked on stage. I was also deeply inspired, because I’m a proud, self respecting Black Samoan man who was surrounded by excellence on this night. THANK YOU to the @ABFF for this inspiring award, and more importantly, thank you for illuminating our cultures, artists and their beautiful souls. When you come up like I did, it creates a fire in your spine, callouses on your hands and forces you to chase greatness and work to achieve excellence. To be that example for my kids and the the next generation who will stand on my/ OUR shoulders. Work hard, take care of your family, protect your aura + energy, lift everyone up around you, run towards the things you LOVE, and a core motivating philosophy I keep very close… just because something’s never been done before, doesn’t mean it can’t be done ~ it just means we haven’t figured out a way to do it. Cheers to always finding a way. 🤎🥂 #AmericanBlackFilmFestival #IconAward “Endurance, commitment, the decision to keep showing up” ~ Queen Angela Basset

There are 30 NFL stadiums: Half use turf, half grass. This weekend, the decision was made to play the Super Bowl on grass. From a medical standpoint, this has become one of the more provocative issues in sports. I sat down with the chief medical officer of the NFL to understand why it matters.

As millions of Americans gather around what should be a period of universal connection — Super Bowl week and the simultaneous opening of the Winter Olympics — the backdrop could not be more conflicted. And this is just the beginning.

From @TheAthletic: The Super Bowl and the Winter Olympics should be a period of universal connection. But the backdrop could't be more conflicted. "Is sport a mirror or a mask for the America we want?" our columnist writes. "For the America we are?" nyti.ms/3ZRVKH2

The question isn’t whether athletes must speak. It’s how their silence, or their courage, influences what becomes normal. @JerryBrewer on what sports will reveal about America in 2026 ⤵️ nytimes.com/athletic/70165…
