@HenriDeMarsay Yes exactly this is all by design. LLMs are totally sycophantic so only humans can be visibly annoyed by the wrong title and the quiz’s weird punctuation 🧠
English

@proffwolff Extra credit for students who write in "The" before the (otherwise incorrect) novella title.

Yup. My pedagogy has been AI-proof for years 💪

It’s amazing how everyone is lamenting the way AI makes it impossible to assign take-home essays anymore when you can just give students in-class exams with true/false questions.

English

as they always say, "hate a fish, and you'll hate for a lifetime. Teach a child to hate a fish, and they'll see in him outrageous strength, with an inscrutable malice sinewing it"

@proffwolff November in our souls.

Hard to pin down why something is trending. My best guess is that it’s the monomaniac incarnation of all those malicious agencies which some deep men feel eating in them.

Why is everyone suddenly talking about Moby-Dick
English

@vjoshuaadams @HitFactoryPod Damn right I am and I’ve got the Nantucket Current’s “Top -Dickfluencers To Watch in 2019” certificate to prove it
English

@dennismhogan @NewPopLit @MattPolProf finally some recognition that even my lowest performing Norris tweets have canon-shaping power 💪
English

@NewPopLit @MattPolProf I don’t pretend to know enough about contemporary literature to respond to the first point, but Frank Norris is very much canonized imo! x.com/proffwolff/sta…

Because of AI, I don’t have students write papers anymore. it’s all in-class experiential learning now. #McTeagueTwitter #pedagogy #academicchatter

@katpburke Yeah, I'm a mid-to-late-19th/early-20th-centuries guy who poses as early Americanist but short answer could be: Bercovitch and Miller especially did influential work on typology as central to Puritan epistemology & hermeneutics that still matter a lot to studies of early America.
English

@proffwolff hey Nate based on two (2) data points I gotta ask: are all scholars of early American literature fascinated w/ typology?
English

@number_pizza111 💯 Crossing the pacific by ship is an ideal way to become more radically socialist. I learned this by reading Moby-Dick.
English

@proffwolff My mom’s foster father once got so bored on a cargo ship from Japan to California he became a Trotskyite.
