Flood Groups – What Are They and Why Do They Matter? We recently held our third Annual Summit, bringing together our Project Groundwater Partnership and representatives from our pilot communities to talk all things groundwater flooding and the incredible work being done through our partnership. With a year left on the project, this summit offered a rare opportunity for all to come together in one space - to reflect on our progress, share insights and the legacy we want to leave in our communities. Through insightful presentations and engaging workshops, we explored our progress to date, what remains to be done, and the legacy each workstream aims to leave. We wanted to be sure that our project will deliver on our vision to forever change how communities prepare for and respond to groundwater flooding. We will be reviewing the outputs from the Annual Sumit to guide our focus for the final year of our project. A huge thank you to our dedicated partners and participants! 🌿 Exciting news from the Lambourn and Pang Valley! In February, we teamed up with Guglielmo Sorisio from Cardiff University for early monitoring ahead of winterbourne restoration works. He collected soil and water samples, set up wildlife cameras, and measured groundwater levels. An important step for understanding site conditions before we begin work later this year!

⭐ Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Property Flood Resilience (PFR) drop‑in events! Over three days, we welcomed more than 60 attendees - including local residents, parish councillors, people who've had a PFR survey or offer, and representatives from local authorities. These events were all about providing practical guidance on understanding and reducing flood risk, including groundwater flooding. Visitors explored the FloodPod and spoke directly with Mary Long‑Dhonau OBE (“Flood Mary”) and RAB Consultants, gaining clear, hands‑on advice about how flooding affects different types of homes and what realistic steps can help reduce damage. Attendees were able to: - See real examples of PFR products - Ask questions about their own properties - Learn about costs, maintenance, and what to expect before, during, and after flooding -Get clarity on proposed measures, installation, and next steps for those currently in the PFR survey process We’re happy the events were so well received, and we look forward to continuing to support local communities in building resilience to flooding.
