Our government and opposition tend to see their citizens as customers of a business and not people whose wellbeing they should care about. Very little has to do with actually easing the stress of LIVING in Jamaica and I hope this is addressed next election cycle.

@MarkJGolding Nah tell me you don't realize that when you buy bottle water you are paying for the package and the convenience. To refill a 20 liter bottle of PURIFIED water is $300 if you have your own bottle. That same volume of gas would cost $3720. Your comparing apples with grapes sir.

A bottle of water contains 500ML, and it cost J$100 in the corner shop or on the street. Two of these bottles of water make one litre and cost J$200. A litre of gas is J$185 at the pump. Water costs more than gas! If we really want to encourage healthy consumption, remove GCT from water and other healthy alternatives so that people can afford to buy them.

As expertly outlined by our Spokesperson for Finance, the Government was not forced into this tax package. It was not forced into continuing to extract funds from the NHT. There are other options and a better way forward.
