America, I need your help. On Chicago’s South Side we’re building the Project H.O.O.D. Leadership & Economic Opportunity Center to create real opportunity for young people. Imagine locker rooms inside the center inspired by Chicago’s great teams. Hey @Cubs @whitesox @chicagobulls @ChicagoBears @NHLBlackhawks would you consider sponsoring and designing locker rooms that inspire the next generation? America, help me get their attention. Retweet and tag them. Let’s show these young people the whole country believes in them. #ProjectHood #NewBeginnings #Church #Oblock

A Tribute to Reverend Jesse Jackson Today we pause. Not to debate. Not to dissect policy. Not to relive political differences. Today we pause to honor a man whose voice shook rooms and stirred souls. The Reverend Jesse Jackson has passed, and whether you agreed with him or not, you cannot deny that he moved a generation. Our philosophies were very different. We did not see America through the same lens. We did not land on the same political conclusions. We did not march in the same ideological lanes. But I would be dishonest if I did not say this. He inspired me. I remember hearing him speak during his presidential campaign. I can still hear the cadence. I can still feel the rhythm of hope in his voice. When he declared that America could be better, that we could rise, that we could overcome barriers that seemed immovable, something happened inside of me. A seed was planted. At that time in my life, I was wrestling with God. I knew God was calling me to preach. I knew there was something burning inside of me. But I was running. Running from the responsibility. Running from the weight of the call. Running from the fear that I was not enough. And then I heard Reverend Jesse Jackson. I saw a Black man stand boldly in arenas that were not built for him. I saw him speak with conviction in rooms that once would not have allowed him through the front door. I saw him carry himself with confidence, with fire, with purpose. And something inside of me whispered, “Maybe it’s possible.” Maybe it’s possible to answer the call. Maybe it’s possible to stand in rooms bigger than your fears. Maybe it’s possible to believe that your voice matters. His speech did not just echo through a convention hall. It echoed into my heart. Even though we would later disagree on many issues, I never forgot that moment. I never forgot that inspiration. I never forgot that courage. You see, sometimes God uses people you will later disagree with to ignite something you desperately need. He helped me believe I could stand. He helped me believe I could speak. He helped me believe that faith and public life did not have to be separated. And today, as I reflect on his passing, I am not thinking about political divides. I am thinking about the young Corey who was wrestling with a calling. I am thinking about the young man who needed to see someone who looked like him command a stage. I am thinking about the moment hope felt contagious. Reverend Jesse Jackson taught a generation to believe that they did not have to shrink. He taught us to lift our voices. He taught us to dream beyond ceilings. He taught us that presence matters. And for me, personally, he helped awaken courage. So today, I honor him. Not because we agreed. But because he inspired. Not because we walked the same path. But because his walk gave me the courage to take mine. May we all remember that influence is powerful. May we all remember that seeds matter. May we all remember that even in disagreement, we can acknowledge impact. Rest well, Reverend. Your voice still echoes. And somewhere, a young person wrestling with their calling just might hear it and believe that it’s possible.

This photo says more than words ever could. In 2011, while I was living in that tent on the rooftop, four giants came to see me: Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, James Meeks, and Hermene Hartman. We didn’t agree on everything. In fact, this was before they found out I was a Black conservative 😂 But here’s what mattered. They showed up. They climbed those steps. They sat in that tent. They listened. They cared about what was happening in our community. That moment wasn’t about party labels. It wasn’t about ideology. It was about the South Side. It was about violence. It was about hope. Reverend Jackson, we walked different philosophical paths, but I will never forget that you came to see a young pastor fighting for his block. Rest in peace, Reverend. History will remember the debates. But I will remember the visit. #ProjectHood #NewBeginnings #Oblock

I don’t say this lightly. I need help. I’m walking across America to finish a center, open a school, and give people hope but this stretch is hard. We’ve raised $2.5M and still have a long way to go. If you can give, share, or connect us to help, please do. I can’t carry this alone. projecthood.org #WalkAcrossAmerica #FinishTheWork

Headed back to Chicago tomorrow to bless 5,000 families with turkeys and groceries for Thanksgiving. This Sunday we’re taking church outside — our entire ministry will be serving and giving food away. Grateful for the chance to love our city in a big way. 🙏🏽🦃 #ProjectHOOD
