One of my favorite moments from this year. We’ve ensured no child goes hungry at school, supported our food banks, and invested in prepared meals for Minnesotans who need an extra hand. In Minnesota, we’re not banning books – we’re banishing hunger.

The Fourth of July is about celebrating the big, bold, inclusive experiment that is our American democracy. And it has always been an experiment. Our democracy has never been guaranteed, which means we can’t take it for granted. We need to keep fighting for it, keep improving it, and keep making sure it reflects the better angels of our nature instead of the worst. That, more than anything, is what America is all about.

I’m still pinching myself—Out of My Mind has been made into a movie! 🎬✨ I can’t wait for you all to see it. As soon as I know the release date, I’ll let you know. Fingers crossed for sometime in the fall!

In my hometown of Sacramento, California, June 11th (today) is known as LeVar Burton Day!  In honor of this special occasion, I'm reading aloud his profound, inspiring & sweet picture book "A KIDS BOOK ABOUT IMAGINATION!" @levarburton is a true literacy hero, his work on @readingrainbow continues to inspire millions of children around the world to dive into stories! And after recently watching the Reading Rainbow documentary, "Butterfly in the Sky," I gained an even greater sense of respect and love for all the kindness & book joy LeVar has spread & continues to share all across the globe!
