It's really because tank warfare is outdated. Kornets and Almas can be guided from a distance and from a bird's view trajectory as you can see in the video which renders the Merkavas trophy system ineffective.
The tanks don't need to explode for it to be rendered non operational.
Now did they take out 40 tanks in a day? Not likely.
But guerilla warfare is a quagmire. They could push all the way to Beirut but pushing is one thing and holding is another. That's why Vietnam, Afghanistan etc are a natural weakness to conventional strategy.
Most assume it's the jet fighters that pose a problem but the truth is the drones are what Hezb aims to take out because they provide recon intelligence.
