Best of luck to all 20 teams taking part in the annual Lava Cup 🏆 this Saturday! The Lava Cup Tournament is a seven-a-side international football tournament that raises money for local charities. This year’s event will be held at Petershill Park in Glasgow on Saturday, May 23rd, from 10am to 5pm. The Lava Cup is a tournament for over-40s, played annually in Scotland, with teams travelling from all over the world including sides from the USA 🇺🇸 Portugal 🇵🇹 Czech Republic 🇨🇿 Iceland 🇮🇸 Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Poland 🇵🇱 Germany 🇩🇪 Norway 🇳🇴 and the Netherlands 🇳🇱 The concept is about bringing people together from different nations to create bonds and lasting friendships, highlighting the importance of well-being and mental health struggles and to raise funds for local charities. Spurs club captain Cristian Romero won't be at their crucial last game of the season against Everton on Sunday, he has instead headed off to Argentina to watch River Plate v Belgrano. Belgrano are his boyhood club and could win the Apertura final Sunday but even still, his current club Spurs could be relegated and you'd expect your club captain to be there, injured or not. It is pretty incredible that someone at spurs has given the green light for this to happen! Doesn't that just sum them up? guessing there is no future for Romero at the club, regardless of the outcome Sunday. Romero was in tears when he went off injured away at Sunderland which ended his season, maybe the tears were more concerns about playing for his country at the World Cup. So it's been a mad few hours in terms of England and the pending squad announcement and who has and has not made the cut for the World Cup. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 The likes of Ben Jacobs, Fabrizo Romano & David Ornstein can certainly be relied upon and in the case of Harry Maguire, he has already confirmed his omission. Some strange decisions from Tuchel who is showing himself to be ruthless but also some decisions many will 100% agree with. Let's have your opinions. For us, we are glad Tony is in, he is a goalscorer with 35 goals this season, yes we know he plays his football in Saudi but that shouldn't automatically rule you out of representing your country. The only odd thing is, when Tuchel last called him up, he barely played. Maguire, Palmer and Shaw missing out will definitely throw up some debate and we think that they are harsh calls. Both of us have gone for the same 3 goalkeepers, both defences are the same except one player, Trent for Dan, Tomori for Greg. Midfield wise, neither of us have picked Jordan Henderson or Phil Foden. Dan has picked Kobbie Mainoo and Greg opted for one less central midfielder and Jarrod Bowen instead. Dan goes for Rashford up top to join Harry Kane and Ollie Watkins. Greg has selected Ivan Tony, despite playing in Saudi, his goals to game ratio is fantastic including 5 in his last 4 games and 35 goals this season! Should playing in Saudi immediately dismiss you for playing for your country? Many will say yes but you have only got to look at Portugal's squad and others to see it doesn't necessarily. It's the first match of the huge two-legged Bundesliga qualification play-off games in Germany 🇩🇪 tonight with VFL Wolfsburg playing against Paderborn. Wolfsburg finished in 16th place in the Bundesliga and Paderborn finished in 3rd place in the Bundesliga 2 with the winners securing top-flight football next season. Wolfsburg who won the Bundesliga title 🏆 back in 2008/09 have never been relegated from the top tier since they first played in it back in 1997. The Wolves made it to the Champions League quarter finals just 10 years ago in 2016 but the following two seasons saw them end up in the relegation playoffs and they will be hoping for the same outcome in those matches or they will be back playing in the second tier for the first time in 30 years! Paderborn will be hoping for a place back in the Bundesliga for the first time in 7 years and will be only the 3rd time they have played in it after 1 season stints in 2015 & 2020. James Lewis from Rugeley in Staffordshire is dribbling ⛹️ a football ⚽️ all the way from Marrakesh in Morocco 🇲🇦 to his home town with the goal of raising £100k for the St Giles Hospice in memory of his late father David Lewis. James began this unbelievable feat on May 1st in Morocco and aims to reach his final destination on July 19th, hoping to see England win the World Cup final. A League Arbitration Panel has today dismissed Southampton Football Club’s appeal against the Independent Disciplinary Commission’s decision in respect of breaches of EFL Regulations. As a result, the original sanction remains in force. Southampton’s expulsion from the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs stands, alongside the four-point deduction to be applied to the Club’s 2026/27 Championship record and the reprimand in respect of all charges. In accordance with EFL Regulations, the decision of the League Arbitration Panel is final. We don't talk about the Premier League much but we have to give a massive shout-out to AFC Bournemouth! What an incredible season the Cherries have had! They have not only guaranteed a place in Europe for the first time in their history but they could also still claim a place in next season's Champions League if results go their way in the coming days! Manager Andoni Iraola has done an amazing job since he took over 3 years ago and the Cherries supporters will be devastated to see him leave at the end of this season but the way the club have recruited players and unearthed some amazing young talent they should have full confidence that the club will continue moving forward.
