@jshieber You're spot on. Our sodium-ion batteries with bidirectional control manage the load swing in both directions so the grid doesn't freak out. Shipping later this year.

Tech companies are working on this issue now. One startup I find interesting that I *think* addresses this is @ProperVoltage. Fascinating tech. Worth a look, if this is something a company's wrestling with.

Data centers can strain grids by consuming too much power. But they also drop off from grids without warning. When data centers detect voltage dips or frequency shifts, many facilities auto-disconnect and flip to backup generation causing separate issues for grid operators PJM is dealing with both problems at once across its 13-state footprint. Mark Christie, former chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission... “As we move into this era of massive load customers, the system is now at risk of being crashed from the load side.”
