This is an official statement to @palmpay_ng @flexi_ng @cenbank @PoliceNG
On 25th January 2026, I was robbed by two men precisely around 9:15am - 9:30am at under bridge Ikeja where I was coming from a job interview.
My phone was taken, my passwords were forcefully obtained and from that moment, my financial apps were compromised.
Immediately this happened they changed my apple ID password at 9:27am exactly so I couldn't login my icloud on another device to erase my phone.
This is where it gets worse.
Immediately after the robbery, I tried to prevent any sort of fraud from my banks so I borrowed a stranger's phone to call my friend @lois_oladipoo since I no longer had a phone, I asked this friend to help me call Palmpay customer service on my behalf to place a no debit restriction on my acccount and I provided her with all of my details to identify my account such as my Full name, Phone number, email address and date of birth.
At 10:14am this my friend @lois_oladipoo spoke with a Palmpay agent and after provision of these details the agent successfully identified my account and all we asked for was one thing, a temporary debit restriction!
But do you know what? The agent REFUSED and she insisted my friend must provide my BVN despite knowing she was calling on my behalf and she could not know that, and there was no way to reach me cos I just lost my phone.
There was no at least temporary emergency freeze or temporary restriction... I mean will a thief be trying to freeze an account they are trying to rob?? So what will it cost them to at least place a restriction for precaution purpose!
I tried calling the same customer service number from a stranger's number in the bus on my way to Ile-Ife (where I came from for the interview) but it kept dropping and dropping.
That single act of negligence from the PALMPAY customer service caused me to lose all my funds and more painfully cause my account to be used for loans I did not take!
The fraud started around 1:27pm hours after Palmpay customer service was warned that my account was accessed by the thief.
Here’s what happened from that 1:27pm, my Palmpay balance of ₦19,050 was cleared then ₦563,584 Flexi loan was approved and disbursed (₦414,400 principal + ₦149,184 interest).
This was done without any form of live facial recognition or step up security measures to confirm it was really me despite the fact that it was a very unusual amount of loan that i have never taken before coupled with the fact my a call was already placed to the customer service about how my phone and account has been compromised.
How would you have give total loan interest included of over half a million without any form of live facial recognition????
But for my account to be placed on temporary no debit restriction you were asking for BVN and could not restrict it???!!!!!
As of 6:45pm when i recovered and froze the account myself, over ₦219,000 had already been transferred out along with the interest of #149,184 of the loan summing up to a total of over #368,000 that I suffered due to the neglience of PALMPAY.
@palmpay_ng was notified before fraud began but refused to place a restriction on my account and @flexi_ng still approved a high-risk loan without proper identity confirmation.
And since then I have emailed Palmpay, I have messaged them repeatedly, I have tagged them publicly and I have provided timelines, screenshots, and details of this matter but proper personal contact has not been made neither has any investigation been done or any meaningful response given.
Flexi @flexi_ng has also failed to give any clear explanation as to how this loan was approved considering this circumstance why no biometric or step-up verification was triggered why I am being left in silence over a loan I never took.
At this point, the silence is disturbing.
It gives the impression that there is no urgency and no intent to properly investigate.
I am now making this public and formally tagging:
@palmpay_ng
@flexi_ng
@cenbank
@PoliceNG
I have screenshots showing:
1. The exact time Palmpay customer care was called
2. The loan disbursement details
3. The transaction timestamps
This thread is a public record.
I am demanding:
1. Immediate cancellation of the fraudulent Flexi loan.
2. Reversal of all fraudulent debits.
3. A transparent investigation update.
4. Direct communication and not silence.
I will not be forced to carry liability for a crime enabled by negligence and weak security controls.
And I WILL NOT PAY FOR A LOAN I DID NOT TAKE!!

@flexi_ng THIS CONCERNS YOU DIRECTLY.
I was robbed at about 9:30am on 25th January 2026 and my phone was stolen alongside my passwords. Hours later, a ₦563,584 Flexi loan (₦414,400 + ₦149,184 interest) was taken on my account without any form of live facial recognition or high level security authentication!!
How do you give such amount of loan with No live facial verification, No 2-factor authentication or any step-up security for a loan of over half a million naira.
Even worse, this fraud was reported early and could have been prevented.
By 10:14am, a friend @lois_oladipoo called Palmpay customer service on my behalf to request an urgent debit restriction after the robbery. The account was correctly identified, yet no temporary restriction was placed. Fraud only began around 1:27pm.
During this window of negligence, your system approved and disbursed a Flexi loan as if nothing was wrong.
I am going to drag this matter to any extent!
This is completely unbelievable and defrauding from both @flexi_ng and @palmpay_ng
I am formally demanding a full investigation into how this loan was approved, and an immediate cancellation of the fraudulently issued Flexi loan!
If this is not resolved urgently, I will escalate this matter to regulators, consumer protection agencies, and legal channels. I will not be forced to repay a loan I never took.
This situation was avoidable. Fix it.
I already sent a DM to you but you are refusing to reply!
