We should openly have the debate so that we can understand why this skill is needed and the many times it is a life-saving procedure. I’d accept that maintaining competence will be very challenging in purely obstetric practice, but I’m on the team which says everyone should under stand and have completed the operation under supervision and be “competent” from this point of view. It’s very complex and difficult.
