This week, we celebrated the community members who participated in the 15th session of the Menomonee Falls Police Department Citizen Academy to learn more about our department. The group attended weekly presentations on topics including technology and analytics in policing, use of force, defense and arrest tactics, patrol procedures, the K9 program, emergency vehicle operation, crash investigation, the Civil Disturbance Unit and Tactical Enforcement Unit, school resource officers, crisis negotiations, and complex investigative debriefs. Let’s step up our winter driving preparedness this season and cut down on crashes. This photograph is from the I-41 winter crash on December 8, 2013 in Menomonee Falls. Over 200 vehicles were involved, with 160 vehicles documented in more than 30 crash reports that day. There were 54 reported injuries, two fatal. The interstate was shut down, and emergency services requested 91 no-preference tows to clear the roadway.

Shoutout to Officer Jay Weber for receiving a Citation by the Wisconsin State Assembly in recognition of his distinguished service as a School Resource Officer! Representative Dan Knodl of the 24th Assembly District presented the honor, commending Officer Weber for his dedication to the safety, education, and well-being of Menomonee Falls students. 👏 Great work, Officer Weber!

Friendly reminder to the afternoon commuters, the Menomonee Falls Downtown Trick or Treat event will be taking place today, October 23, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. It was a special evening last night at the Menomonee Falls Police Department. The department recognized the heroic efforts of several officers who responded to an emergency call for service for two individuals who had fallen into the Menomonee River on August 11, 2025, during the historic flooding. It was the swift teamwork and courageous efforts of these officers that saved the lives of these two citizens. Police Officers Tank, Cychosz, and Zangl were presented with the Department's Lifesaving Award. Police Officers Paulson, Comerford, Schroeder, A. Weber, and Benson were presented with the a Department Letter of Commendation. Assistant Chief Neyhart was presented with the Department's Distinguished Service Award. Police Officer Curran was presented with the Menomonee Falls John S. Taylor Jr. Valor Award for the first time in the department's history. The award is named after John S. Taylor Jr, the only Menomonee Falls Police Officer who died in the line of duty on August 6, 1977.

Today is National Move Over Awareness Day and we are asking for your help. When you see an emergency vehicle on the side of the road, #moveover or #slowdown, for the safety of everyone on the roadway.
