I've definitely caught the travel router (mobile homelab?) bug! This is a Protectli running Proxmox with a virtualised OpenWRT hooked up to a 5G modem. Having a lot of fun with this one!

@EmmerichBret Yes, the WAN and LAN interfaces are assigned when OPNsense is preinstalled. Additional ports on Vaults with more than two ethernet ports will be up to your to configure. For future questions, please contact us through the Protectli website for us to support you through them!

@protectli hello, I’m wanting to get your pfsense for my home, and possibly travel Can I use a “external SSD” for storage? Or am I limited to when I order it? I see one device has 120ssd, but… could I use “any” hard drive and plug it in?

@EmmerichBret Great question! You can use an external SSD via USB, though we don't typically recommend it. Internal storage options vary by Vault model (mSATA, M.2 SATA, or NVMe), so please check our datasheets for specific models and what they support: kb.protectli.com/kb/protectli-d…

@0xF2 @pfsense @OpenWRT2 Hi! Your FW4A uses DDR3L RAM, which is only available at 1.35V. While a 1.5V DDR3 module may work, we've seen issues like no video display in previous tests. If you have any more questions, please contact us at support@protectli.com as we don’t often monitor social media!

@protectli @pfsense @OpenWRT2 Not sure what to make of this… all docs say DDR3L (1.35v) is in use in all FW4 models, including FW4A… but this slot is labeled DDR3 1.5v. It could be the slot, the electrical does not have to match, but can you confirm?

@protectli support question — I am looking at repurposing a FW4A I have around. The Vault needs to login to a WiFi network with a browser form to activate the upstream link. Ubuntu and FreeBSD can obviously do that, my guess if @pfsense and @OpenWRT2 cannot. Could you confirm?
