Thinking of the left as a patronage system and the right as a market is one of the most original, and frankly logical conceptualizations of how the left and the right operate that I’ve heard in a very long time and when you think about it it makes a tremendous amount of sense What does the left do? It creates financial patronage networks for its bases of support (voters, core constituencies) justified through ideology. It does so by taxing its enemies (predominantly but not exclusively white middle class) and redistributes those assets to clients, core constituencies, and its base. Examples: Affirmative action brought easy jobs and college access for blacks justified by the ideology of equity. DEI did the same thing but expanded it to every non white group as well as women (women vote left in higher numbers) and gays. Endless government money for daycares started by Somalis Spanberger in Virginia announcing that all government contracts have to go to minority or women owned businesses Endless amounts of tax dollars going towards social programs that employ social workers (social workers almost exclusively vote left) who are then incentivized to perpetuate the existence of or create new problems for them to solve to justify more tax dollars Mass migration creates social problems (housing, poverty, crime, education, etc) that the left wing managerial class the. Has to solve this creates jobs and funding More funding for public schools going right towards school boards, administrators, managers, teachers, etc who predominantly vote left The list goes on and on. The left is a patronage system that seizes assets from its enemies and redistributes them to clients. This is a stable base of power. The right doesn’t do this

Uploaded a bonus audio episode for subscribers on the Ko-Fi on the following, which I think really gets to the heart of our problem. The Left is fundamentally a patronage system. The Right is just a market, and so it must tend towards surrender and slop riverside.com/shared/exporte…

I am reading the disclosure and ethics rules in lobbying, when I get the chance I am organizing other lobbyists and interest groups to abolish these rules, they are pointless. They essentially make lobbying harder while failing to stop clientelism from happening at all.

Fukuyama Liberalism’s biggest enemy is the Identity based Rent-Seeker. When the desire to be seen as supreme, special, and oppressed is financially incentivized then it gets a life of its own, it becomes a Special Interest that will fight for domination.

I suspect the solution to the Marginalization Problem will be similar: some kind of Mixed Affirmative Arbitration. There will be job quotas, housing quotas, and bullshit jobs. The reason is purely rent seeking and the cheapest possible prevention of societal extreme violence.
