While driving through North Queensland today for the Hinchinbrook by-election, just outside Townsville, I spotted a property full of mango trees. I had to stop because I love my mangos. I pulled in and met Sue, the owner. She kindly offered me some for free. As we got talking, I found out she’s had health issues in the past, and sadly, she has discovered another lump and needs scans done. The public system is so overwhelmed that she’s been told she might have to wait until September 2026 just to get the scans. That’s a dangerous delay. These problems can become deadly if they’re left to linger. Sue never asked for anything from me. But I wanted to repay her kindness with kindness. So I gave her a hand. Charity starts at home. We’ve got to look after our own. Too many Australians are falling through the cracks while governments send billions overseas or waste it on bureaucracy. It’s time we put everyday Aussies first. That means helping each other when the system doesn’t. That’s the Australia I believe in.

The first time I heard something like this I was 22 and just happened to walk into a cathedral while in France. They were only practicing and it literally stopped me in my tracks. It was like heaven opened up. How did Catholics trade this for what sounds like bad 70s music?
