Why are we here? What can we do to answer questions and solve problems? Which actions today will make the world better? ... Please pray for my physical healing.

@FeserEdward @gailfinke I met a Roman Catholic priest who felt it was better to vote Democrat because he (wrongly) believes they help the poor, and this help to the poor - and, probably, their 'welcoming of others' - outweighs all the rest of their evil.

For one thing, I think it's important always to keep in mind that there are people who vote for Democrats despite these evils, not because of them. People who are very interested in politics too often assume that everyone who votes for a certain party must be committed to what the party's loudmouth activists and ideologues believe. But that's not the case. Many people are not interested in that sort of thing and pay little attention to it. For example, there are many people (I know some) who hate the woke stuff but still vote for Democrats for whatever reason (economic policy, dislike of Trump, or whatever).

It's actually even worse than that. Trump's exact formulation was that "the first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens." He didn't actually deny that the government has duties of some kind to those here illegally (whether or not he believes that), but said merely that the first duty of governments was to their own citizens, which is obviously true. Yet they couldn't muster even lukewarm agreement with that. And the refusal to join in the condemnation of child mutilation was even worse. The Democratic Party remains degenerate and beyond the pale.
Jeffrey A Tucker@jeffreytucker

Not a person particularly moved by political matters, I was genuinely startled to see the whole of the Democrat Party remain seated during SOTU when ask to stand if you support the notion that government should serve citizens, not illegal aliens. The scene nearly took my breath away. Add the same approach to supporting the parents of a brutally murdered girl and the banning of child mutilation. They sat for those too. Is this an entire party of ghouls and freaks? Truly, it's bizarre. How can they win an election ever again/

@3doorsdown Alcohol is carcinogenic. Grok says he was a heavy drinker to the point of alcoholism. It's probable that alcohol caused his cancer and his death despite later quitting. Should we see drinking alcohol as like smoking cigarettes?

@dlongenecker1 Reading Reddit I completely disagree: It's ignorance of economics, not understanding how wealth is amassed beyond minimum wage labor. It's ignorance of Christianity: assuming they're good people so if others have more then they're stealing it, since their hard work doesn't get it

Why is there an assumption in our society that rich people are corrupt, greedy and bad and it is a good thing to be simple, modest and generous? Christianity. That's why.

@TomicsComics Indeed, please raise awareness about male genital mutilation in the USA, its history, how Biblical circumcision = piece of tip, not as much tissue as possible like American hospitals have done for a century.

@WhiteHouse I absolutely hate auto-stop. Great decision. BTW - The best part of this video is the '26.2' bumper sticker on the back of the 'non-red' vehicle. Neither of those 2 blue-haired passengers strike me as the 'marathon' type.

@FeserEdward The only 'defense' they would have that I can see is how _The Last Superstition_ starts off so harshly criticizing CA redefining marriage that I'm concerned many leftists who need to read it would quit reading it at the outset. Some think Christianity = providing warm fuzzies.

I had been invited to speak later this month at St. John’s Seminary in Los Angeles. I have now been informed that the event is being cancelled, due to complaints from unnamed critics who find me too controversial. Meanwhile, the always controversial Fr. James Martin will be speaking this month at the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress, on the theme “Hope on the Horizon: LGBTQ Catholic Update 2026.” It appears that, for some in @ArchbishopGomez ‘s archdiocese, Fr. Martin is welcome to speak about that topic to educators of Catholic youth, but I am not welcome to speak to seminarians about how to defend the Church’s teaching on the soul’s immortality.

@AuronMacintyre Haiti is an inhospitable island constantly pummeled by hurricanes and earthquakes with a lawless government. It's simply that no one should live there. We just need to vet which of them are the gangsters, then empty the island to return it to nature.

It seems it’s not enough to injure young families and working people by pledging “I don’t want to drive housing prices down, I want to drive housing prices up.” He has to insult them by implying that it’s people “who didn’t work very hard” who want lower prices. Political suicide

Trump: I don’t want to drive housing prices down. I want to drive housing prices up for people who own their homes. You can be sure that will happen

@arcastan1000000 I'm guessing the way to square this circle is he plans to give home buyers free money so they can buy houses: Thus they can afford them yet the *price* doesn't fall. ...

@Pseudonymous002 @FeserEdward You do realize all house prices correlate with all other houses right? Market value doesn’t change when a for sale sign is in the front yard

@seanonolennon That's exactly the temptation of evil -- very few ever think they're doing wrong; we always think we're pursuing a good. Thus the need to listen to the Church Jesus established when we 'don't see the harm in it' or think 'we aren't hurting any one'.

I’ve never had a boss that was openly conservative, and most have been openly liberal. One had an Obama-themed funeral for his wife. I don’t really care to specify or argue about it. I know my experience isn’t the same as everyone else’s.
