@adamjohnsonCHI ... I'm worried that people get lazy & start accepting AI as "good enough." It slows down scientific pursuit or muddies the water. If I let AI do a review of a paper and an editor accepts it as human, that paper may be accepted or rejected unfairly. Lazy becomes the norm. 5/5

@adamjohnsonCHI ... but it simply isn't at the level of being able to generate real writing that is both accurate and sounds like it was written by a person. That may change. It may get better. For now, it's simply not there. My worry isn't about AI replacing human writing or thinking... 4/n

I’m sorry but no one believes this. It’s hip to turn this discussion into fart sniffing abstraction but we absolutely know the difference between high level writing and slop. Anyone acting like we don’t is either paid to act obtuse or doesn’t, themselves, know how to write.

Hello! A student is hoping to learn more about doulas and what it’s like to be/become one. Do I have anyone in my network who is a doula or knows one who may be willing to speak with a student?

@WillBeischel We're very lucky at Penn State Abington College (a campus within the PSU system). We get $1800 a year with an additional $600 for international travel). It is never enough but also I know this is a LOT more than lots of places.

If you're a faculty member, how much travel funding/professional development money do you get from your department or university to attend conferences each year? We're an R1 (as of this year) and only get $1000 which covers like half of one conference's expenses... :(

The PA ground game for Harris is wild. I have had three people come by in the past four days to ask about voting plans and one of them just knocked a few minutes ago (at 630p) to make sure we voted. He was out of breath seeming to be jogging from house to house.
