Billie Jean, Beat It, Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough, and Smooth Criminal all began as fully voiced demos where every element was performed with his mouth. Producers repeatedly said he had perfect internal pitch and could recall entire arrangements days later without hearing them again.
