Just to clarify. I call him my little brother, but he is a grown man. Maybe younger brother would be more accurate. He’s not a kid. He’s just 7 years younger than I. I appreciate the outpouring of prayer for him. It has been overwhelming. Just know that if I can’t respond, it is still very much appreciated and needed.

If you're a praying person, sure could use some prayers of healing. Not for me, but for someone who means the world to me. My little brother is being airlifted out of my hometown rural hospital to a trauma center for emergency surgery for an aortic dissection.

UEFA are doing everything within their power to make sure we get multiple Real Madrid-Manchester City type fixtures every season in the Champions League, in so doing are diminishing the excitement and meaning of those matches. I used to look forward to such blockbuster games for days. Nowadays I’m often indifferent to them. Okay, I’m biased, but give me a Sporting v Bodø/Glimt as an alternative and I know which game I’m tuning in to. Coming across different clubs from all over the continent has always been one of the greatest charms of UEFA’s club competitions, and Bodø’s incredible lineup was a throwback to European matches of yesteryear - all but two of the 17 players used by Kjetil Knutsen’s team in the Portuguese capital last night were Norwegian! Sporting themselves used 8 Portuguese players, 4 of whom had come through the club’s youth system. Finally on last night, a nod to Maxi Araújo. He has been immense all season for Sporting, but yesterday was one of the most astonishing individual performances I have ever seen, and it was befitting it was the Uruguayan who scored the crucial fourth goal that finally put Sporting ahead in the tie.
