I say that, because you could write the script for this team year after year, doing the same things, making the same little run at the end to make it seem like they have a playoff chance, then faltering. It’s a talent issue, but it’s also just a chemistry and mentality issue.

I feel for Couturier. He’s slowed down and he’s unproductive. Injuries and aging haven’t helped. It’s tough for a player to accept. However, Couturier is part of a generation of Flyers that haven’t won anything here. It’s time to part ways. It’s not about him, it’s just time.

@cthomasmurphy @comcast What you said makes perfect sense. “Not a point of pride” is so true. Mr. Snider could be overly aggressive, but his love, determination and demand for excellence became the fabric of team. I also never remember him patronizing the fans or allowing it.

@PuckTherapy Until @comcast is out, this is what we will get. They're not a point of pride anymore. They're an asset in an entertainment portfolio. I miss Mr. Snider so very much. For the flaws he had, you know he always cared about the team and fans. Never punted on 1 season let alone 10.

It would be helpful for the #Flyers fans if Jones and Briere would stop acting like this is our first rodeo… Hextall…”patience” Fletcher…”it’s a retool Charlie” Briere…”we’re rebuilding” Trade away guys 26 and older. Draft elite talent. Everyone was good with a rebuild.
97.5 The Fanatic@975TheFanatic

Flyers President of Hockey Operations Keith Jones on if he is happy with the state of the rebuild for the Flyers: “I do, I think we all would love to rush it and make it happen quicker, but that’s not the way it is and the environment we’re in today. One of the things that we’re really happy about, is we are alleviating a lot of the cap pressure that we have had in the past. A lot of the deals that we had to work out of including the Kevin Hayes deal, the Ryan Ellis deal, the Cam Atkinson deal, all that money is starting to come off the books. That I’m really excited about, and that was one of the objectives Danny [Briere] and I had when we took over, was to clean up the [bad contracts]… The other part of it was to add younger talent and to accumulate draft picks, and we’re starting to put those picks into play. Allowing the players enough time to fully develop, not to rush them, but to watch them grow, and hope that our assessment of where they will end up in the future align and they’ll end up being a big parts of the franchise as we move forward. Those things I think are all in a really good place and I’m really excited about the future". (Kincade & Salciunas) 📸 - Emilee Chinn/Getty Images

@PuckTherapy @DanTheFlyeraFan “If Jiricek doesn’t work out” I think it’s unreasonable to expect him to be a number 1 now that he’s on his 3rd team. I liked the trade, if he’s a future second pair guy/pp qb with a shot then it’s a great return but don’t tell me he’s the plan for 1D.

@DanTheFlyeraFan It’s as if each regime wants the fans to be patient again, and by Philly standards I would say they really have been, but there’s been 0 payoff for any of these processes. Right now I don’t see how they get the elite talent they still need at C or D (if Jiricek doesn’t work out)

@PuckTherapy This is where I get the most annoyed as well. this idea that it’s only been a few years -ignoring the last 2 regimes that spanned a decade- is frustrating as a fan. I get they want to put distance between themselves & their predecessors, but I can’t just ignore the similarities

But you can’t… Hire a “win now” coach Re-sign older players Not trade veterans that have value Draft 12-18 Have glaring holes you have no fix for Tell fans the 25-26 offseason is the big one And then say they’re impatient. They want to see the rebuild #Flyers

It’s disingenuous to say fans are impatient. They have been. 10 seasons out of 14 with no playoffs. 6 straight seasons no playoffs. Fans CALLED for the rebuild. Show me how you’ll gain elite talent and that you support and develop your kids. That’s all we want. #Flyers

@charlieo_conn It’s almost like the only way to get elite talent is to draft it. It’s almost like until you have it everything else is significantly less valuable than talent. But hey, you can’t “tank” I’ve been told Establish culture. Gather talent. Supplement with experience.

Here's the thing. True blue-chip prospects rarely get traded. And when they get traded (Buium) it's because there's enough uncertainty around them to justify a trade (Buium's NHL underlyings SUCK). True trade chips really are the next tier down -- great but not likely elite.
"Culture Boy" Rick Comcast@bsbr666

@charlieo_conn @jackiespiegel93 There's a diamond and a half (the goalie being a half), a little quality, some long shots, and some meh. Not a bad prospect pool, but an entirely unspectacular one. Everything has value, but most teams already have prospects of equivalent value to theirs outside of Martone.

@mannybenevides @letmebefrankbro Also, let’s be honest, the organization that has essentially had 4 GMs and 5 coaches in the last 14 years isn’t known for making good decisions at the moment. I’m sorry to put it that way, but this team has stumbled through the last 10-15 years.

@letmebefrankbro Agreed. He is going nowhere. Firing him would be the Flyers admitting a mistake. Zero chance that happens.

If you can’t get 1st or 2nd line centers then you NEED to sell and use high picks on those type of prospects. Having a bunch of 3/4 C’s is not going to get you anywhere near where you need to be in my opinion

He’s going to be 26, his career high in points is 46 and you’d have to trade to get him. He’s essentially going to give you Noah Cates’ offensive production, without the defensive presence. These are the guys I’d want to avoid. They need true top 6 (really 1st line) guys.
Brandon J. Sommermann@B_Sommermann

Name to watch for Flyers in summer now… Mammoth center Barrett Hayton… RFA, former 5th overall pick in 2018, Rick Tocchet was apart of group that drafted him in PHX. Utah now set with Schmaltz-Cooley-Desnoyers-Beaudoin at center. Hayton has shown Top6 capability. #LetsGoFlyers
