As people in my replies point out, the fact that the Blues went on a run like this mainly propped up by young players that they will have control of for a while is very good I just think the value of a top 3 pick to this franchise's future specifically is absurdly high

He had that one goal against Arizona in 2021 but it wasn't this.

@STLNoteFan314 @STLBluesMuse Not out of top 5 convo yet but was the other suggestion just pull their best players when they were starting to heat up? It’s frustrating for sure but only so much you can do when your best players start to play at a high level and you’re knocking on WC2 door for a period

@PuckWatchingSTL @STLBluesMuse It wasn't just injuries, trading Schenn and Faulk galvanized this group. Last year there were 9 teams under .500, this year there are 4. That means you dont have to be terrible to be a bottom team. This was an opportunity, a unique scenario to draft top 5.

@STLNoteFan314 @STLBluesMuse The blues had the worst goaltending in the NHL and everyone underachieving almost the entire. Didn’t win 3 games in a row until March and a game in OT until mid January. They are not a bottom feeder team. They were gonna turn it around eventually when they got healthy again.

@PuckWatchingSTL @STLBluesMuse Pal, even an improved .600 point pace would've kept us in the bottom 4. .750 points % post olympics was crazy. We suffered through FIVE months of shit hockey, including a healthy Oct,Nov,Dec for Thomas ans Holloway. And this is our reward, no playoffs and no high pick.

@PuckWatchingSTL @STLBluesMuse Buddy, they were tied for 2nd to last place after 58 games. That top 3 pick was right there. Now we just have to hope that they get lucky with the lottery. I fucking hate the mushy middle.

@stlsportsfan123 @PuckWatchingSTL I'm sorry, but these are good top 6 players, and aside from Thomas I don't think any of them are first liners on a cup team. The current core sadly is not good enough and lacks any star power; it's mediocre

@PuckWatchingSTL Going upon the fourth season of mediocrity, I think it's time they actually make a real bold change for once

@PuckWatchingSTL @PassingDrill Whole point of the rebuild . We all knew after that run we were going right back to the bottom, happens in a cap league . Bedard , Nazar, Lardis, Frondell , Kantserov , Knight and another top 3 comin , also 50 mil in cap space . Confident to say the future is bright

@PassingDrill You have to get rid of your best players to get access to a high lottery pick. The Blues aren’t nearly bad enough when healthy to qualify for that. They are simply proving that rn

@PuckWatchingSTL @PassingDrill Blackhawks also had a decade of Stanley cups and deep playoff runs with a chunk of them being and will be hall of famers . In the next few years they will start another decade of winning and possible championships . This is well worth the wait

It’s frustrating, sure, that they are yet again not in a position to get a top 5 pick (that can change quickly) but it is quite amazing how much better they are playing. Beating Colorado in Denver and maybe even outplaying them was inconceivable no more than a month or so ago. As it relates to playoffs, it’s going to be extremely difficult. You probably need LA to lose to Nashville tonight given their schedule moving forward and hope Nashville slips up a couple times. Sharks will have to slip up too but both Nashville and San Jose have the remaining schedules to slip up imo. Id say Blues have to win their next 3 (COL, Jets, @ CHI) to be right there after this coming weekend and you can really dig your heels in for the final stretch. They haven’t won the critical critical games yet consecutively and tomorrow Thursday and Saturday are just that. I don’t think there’s candidly any room for a regulation loss this week in order to make a real push so they will have had to win 5 in a row come Sunday morning. Not easy but not impossible! #stlblues

I still don't seem them overcoming this, but give them credit, they're not going away easily. #stlblues are forcing those above them to win their games. All you can do is apply the pressure.
