@adamwathan I like that [] syntax indicates stepping outside the regular system. How about px-[47]?

@simonw Maybe this is also a strength of LLMs: Taking general knowledge and just tuning it slightly to a particular context.
English

@simonw Side-by-side comparison of its response for you and for me. Almost identical. It adapts the details to each of us, but the response content and format is eerily similar.
A vague relatable statement, slightly tailored, comes across as surprisingly convincing.

Here's a blog post about how that ChatGPT trick where you ask it to provide insights into your personality is _mostly_ snake oil, relying on the same cognitive bias (the Barnum effect) used by horoscopes and personality tests simonwillison.net/2024/Oct/15/ch…

There's a meme where you ask ChatGPT "From all of our interactions what is one thing that you can tell me about myself that I may not know about myself" - don't be fooled into thinking there's anything deep going on here, its effectively a horoscope generator

@adamwathan I... really thought you had to use position: relative for this

@adamwathan An employee only has one job (generally), but an employer has many employees. I feel like that might explain some of the imbalance in the dynamic.
English

I think this makes a lot of sense but it’s interesting how doing the equivalent on the employer side would be considered pure evil — always interviewing new candidates for roles you’ve already filled with good people just in case you find someone better to replace them with.

@ddmeyer Watching the "help me solve this equation" portion of the announcement was quite a ride. It's cool tech. But "help me solve a math problem" is very much not the correct demo.

This is @tldraw in a notebook, connected to the new GPT-4o vision API. This video is at original speed, and it shows how @matplotlib plots are generated from scribbles.

@realbashlk I have absolutely no idea why it would associate this with my website specifically. The only thing I can think of is that one time I wrote a semi-popular blog post about iframes. And the source code for my website is on Github. But that's it.

Hi @PullJosh
I was writing some code to remove iframes from my RSS feed and Github copilot suggested some code which is from one of your sites I think. 😄
