@larrykingundead Chuck Norris vs. Frankenstein?
Chuck Norris vs. The Bionic Man?
I never knew I needed these in my life until I read that blurb.
English

"Science created him. Now Chuck Norris must destroy him."
Whoever came up with that text didn't get paid enough.

Rewatching a Chuck Norris movie tonight.

@strngerebe44623 @GeekyPug87 @PatrickKindlon He created a comic where the fictional main character goes against real-world terrorists Al Quaeda and gets called Islamaphobic.
That's like calling Simon & Kirby Germanphobic for having Captain America punch Adolph in the mug on the cover of his first issue.
English

@GeekyPug87 @PatrickKindlon Funny enough I notice so many people claim he's Islamophobic but can't specify what exactly he did. They just know he made a comic that pissed the internet off but can't specify what about the comic is wrong.

FAMOUS FUNNIES #100 (Oct. 1942)
The very first comic book series to reach one hundred consecutive issues. This publication mostly ran comic strip reprints with rate original content like FEARLESS FLINT by H. G. Peter (of Wonder Woman fame).

@larrykingundead Tower had an embarrament of artistic riches with the likes of Wally Wood, Reed Cramdall, Gil Kane, Steve Ditko, and Mike Sekowsly doing the best work of his career.
English

@PunchDrunkKing Superspy superhero stories that were a lot of bang for your back were both of their time and ahead of it. NoMan is a great character as are the other THUNDER Agents. So if this was seen in the wild, it'd be worth picking up.
English

@JonathanJColton X-Men, but ASTONISHING X-MEN in particular, because this is when Maduerira strayed away from being an Art Adams clone and started leaning more into his Shirow/manga style.

@blaksheepno1 And home to 4 of the greatest artists to ever do it:

From COMIC ART #1 (1961), a fanzine published by Don Thompson, future publisher of THE COMIC BOOK BUYER'S GUIDE --
Don publishes the then-current CCA guidelines and chimes in with a hilariously hard comment about the head administrator, Mrs. Guy Percy Trulock. 😄

@BlanketMan77 @KirbyKrackleArt It's an old claim that's already been debunked in 2019.
Now, there was a promotional poster involving Captain America that implied Stan was a creator of Captain America, and this was a point of aggravation for Kirby, but no outright claim by Stan's own hand was ever written.

English

@KirbyKrackleArt I reread Origins of Marvel Comics specifically looking for this claim, but never found Lee saying he had anything to do with the creation of Captain America. Anyone have the quote?
Lee made some dubious claims over the decades but I think Moore is the one misremembering here.
English

@TheRealSeanHart @Vbajor10 People act like this is some time-honored tradition instead of something just borrowed from legitimate combat sports only 10 or so years ago. 🙄
English

@Vbajor10 Very little means anything anymore in that company.

I despise the idea of someone leaving their gear in the ring and that not being the end

@Majesticallyill @JonathanJColton I'm not talking of personal taste; just of impact and money draw. I love Bagley & Alan Davis, but they didn't move the sakes needle with just their name alone.
English

@PunchDrunkKing @JonathanJColton I guess it just comes down to personal taste. I agree with your 1995-1998 artist roster...but in the early 90s I'd personally go with Mark Bagley, Alan Davis and we agree on Jim Lee
English

@Majesticallyill @JonathanJColton Depends on which part of the decade. 1990-1994, it's a neck-and-neck race between McFarlane and Jim Lee, with Marc Silvestri nipping at their heels.
1995-1998, it's a three-way dance between Joe Madureira, J. Scott Campbell and Michael Turner.
