CXL 3 which has switched CXL enabling shared memory "JBOMs" (Just a bunch of Memory) will be available in the future. This approach is very attactive to large data center operators to reduce mem cost

@PuneetAnandTech @NANDoperator @Supermicro_SMCI At one point there was a dream for CXL to be composable over fabric. Are you seeing any demand for large "RAM boxes" that could be provisioned in that way?

@WendellW SSG-121E-NE3X12R Intel 1U ASG-1115S-NE3X12R AMD 1U and SSG-222B-NE3X24R Intel 2U all support CXL. The 1Us can take 4 CXL drives each (so up to 1TB CXL Memory), and the 2Us can take 8 CXL drives so up to 2TB CXL Memory
