WARMTH OF COLLECTIVISM UPDATE: Mayor Zohran Mamdani declares a "budget crisis," asks for a bailout from the state government, and pushes back his deadline for completing the city budget at least 10 days:
"We cannot close this deficit with savings alone. We need new revenue, and we need a structural reset in our relationship with the state. That is the only way to meet our legal obligation to pass a balanced budget."

🚨 THE FINAL RADIO CALL EVERY LINEMAN FEARS - AND AN ENTIRE IBEW CREW BREAKS DOWN
They gather around his truck. Silent. Still. Every man bracing himself for what they’re about to hear.
Then the dispatcher’s voice comes through the radio:
“Clear the airway.”
“This is the last and final call for Kyle Ferree.”
“He has climbed his last pole. His hooks are hung.”
“After six years of service, his work here on earth is done.”
“Kyle, may you rest in peace. Although you are gone, you will never be forgotten.”
“Kyle, you are now clear of duty.”
“Rest in peace, brother. Go with God. We will take it from here.”
And then - one by one - the crew checks out over the radio:
“2:08 checking out.”
“2:11 checking out.”
“2:17 checking out.”
“3:30 checking out, little buddy.”
“3:35 checking out.”
“3:36 checking out.”
And on and on… each man saying goodbye in the only way linemen know how.
Kyle Ferree was an IBEW brother.
A father of two with a third on the way.
A husband. A friend.
Gone in seconds during routine line work.
No reporters.
No speeches.
Just raw loyalty from the workers who climb in storms, ice, and darkness - and know this could have been any one of them.
Who’s really looking out for the people who do this job?

@matt_vanswol My aunt told a story at one of my cousin’s wedding showers that I never forgot. She said, “When I got married, I made a list of five things that irritated me about my fiancé. I decided that since this was part of the ‘better or worse’ vow, that when he did one of these things…
@matt_vanswol ..and made me mad after we were married, I would calm down and forgive him since I knew what I was getting into from the beginning.” I asked, “What were the five things on your list?” She said, I never wrote it down but every time he made me mad I told myself,…
I’m a Jew who lived during the time of Nazi Germany in Canada. Do you think that if I believed even for a second that was an homage to Hitler or the Nazis that I would communicate with him; let alone follow him? 🙄
Just picked up takeout for me and my friend.
I already paid $43 for two meals.
You didn’t bring it to my table. You didn’t refill my drink.
You tied the top of a plastic bag and spun an iPad around asking for a 25% tip.
I’m so sick of this new trend.
PS: I tipped zero.
It’s a common misconception that all Los Angeles Fire Department calls are to put out fires caused by homeless people.
Not the case.
Sometimes LAFD gets dispatched to rescue a homeless person that’s locked themselves in a solar powered trashcan
