Did you know? @ZelijOrigins founder @ismailiwi1 is a renowned Web2 artist whose works have been featured by some of the biggest brands and platforms across the globe. But before diving into his achievements, some of you might be wondering: what exactly is “Zelij”? Zelij is an ancient North African and Moorish art form made from hand-chiseled geometric terracotta tiles carefully arranged into intricate mosaics. Originating from 10th-century Morocco, this timeless craft has decorated palaces, mosques, fountains, and madrasas for centuries. Ismail has been deeply involved in this style of artistry since around 2018, building a name for himself through works that blend tradition with modern creativity.
