It becomes a pattern of selective outrage and biased commentary. If football discussions are going to be credible, they should apply the same standards to every player, not one set of rules for Messi and another for everyone else. Until then, the repeated attempts to discredit Messi’s accomplishments will continue to look less like genuine analysis and more like an effort to tarnish his image.
