Layer 1 (L1) is the main blockchain. The foundation. Examples: Bitcoin, Ethereum What it does: Processes transactions Secures the network Stores all data The problem: It can get slow Fees go high when demand increases That’s where Layer 2 (L2) comes in. Layer 2 is built on top of Layer 1. Its job is to make things faster and cheaper.
