LeBron James o34.5 PA (-118 DK) NBA Playoffs Prop Thursday #3 🏀 So LeBron’s 4Q last game was 12 points and 0 assists. Led the team with 9 FGA and nobody else had more than 2. Why is this? Well, Denver made a big switch and put Gordon on AD and KCP on Bron, essentially trying to limit the scoring of Anthony Davis and prevent the Lakers from abusing the P&R that they destroyed Denver with when Jokic was on AD. Bron would hit AD immediately off the slip and AD would dominate the isolation. The Jokic matchup on defensive 1 on 1 with AD is just a pure net negative for the Nuggets. This change led to LeBron playing off the screen a ton and instead of facing a physical Gordon, he had KCP who he could bully into the paint and score on with Denver really not even trying to help weak side but rather giving LeBron the shots and living with the result. KCP would also go under the screen a ton, scared of the drive preemptively, and that would lead to LeBron getting open pull-up 3s. He can beat KCP downhill 9/10 times every single game. Jokic would guard Rui, leave him wide open in the corner and help out as well to slow down AD, but wouldn’t attack LeBron essentially trying to just prevent the pass. This change feels certain to carry over into this game with the Nuggets still winning that 4Q and the emphasis really being on slowing down an AD who went 11/12 shooting in the 1H LG when guarded 1 on 1 in isolation with Jokic. Why I’m taking this over AD u39.5 PR (may still) is that I think there’s some backup value just in case Denver adjusts mid game as well and Bron is back to facilitating to AD who cooks later on. LeBron is over in 5/6 playoff games vs Denver, a lot by the hook, and even though that holds less value to me because this scheme they’re running is very different from what they’ve done in years past, it’s worth noting. Another HR is that he’s over in 60% of home games with AD playing 35+ minutes this season. LeBron in this situation, after missing a game winner and now being encouraged to score based on what I’m expecting to see is somebody I’m backing 100% of the time. Love this spot for him, think he’ll get it done for us.
