Your first project review. Today you presented your first project of your professional life at one of the biggest names of software. Getting that job was a process I had the privilege of personally witnessing. There were days of self doubt where we tried to reassure ourselves that our mental status shouldn't be entirely tied to our job hunt but deep down we knew the importance for the same and the possibilities it would unlock - and was it the responsibility or the tie-your-persona-to-a-job toxicity talking, we are not sure, but eventually it worked out the best way - you in a hybrid role in Bangalore and me mostly remote so we could move in together while we both still being 21 yrs old. We shouldn't lie that we crave for something better when we see our peers earning 2x to 4x of what we do, and again - it's prolly a mix of insecurity and a drive to do better (maybe the later a causation of the insecurity), but deep down we are also grateful of our privilege we were born into which enabled the opportunity to get here in the first place ie. the resources we were showered with from our parents since childhood into the best possible education and a lifestyle which opened up avenues a vast majority of the country still is far from having access too. What we have realised that no matter how far we go there always will be someone who achieved the same and more before us and better than us. So, let's keep ourselves (and maybe each other) as our competition and try to be better than the day before and try our best to help people in the grand ways we imagine. You are the star of your team, all your teammates say that and everyone literally gave you an ovation today after your presentation, and mentioned that you ensure that everything we do, you ensure you bring something valuable there. And that's the same in our life too - you always make sure that you make everything I do much better than what I could have imagined myself. So pat yourself in the back (you don't need that I guess when I already can shatter that ahem) and take a look back and what you have achieved and what all there is to achieve yet. 💗
