Sens. Blackburn and Hickenlooper hammering what I agree is the real issue, not only for PMs but all of sports gaming: the marketing. It is single-handedly the one issue I regret from our legalization effort, which we gave short shrift due to an (incorrect) assumption that regulators would be as tight-fisted with sports as they were with their existing casinos & lotteries. Those channels had firm limitations on to whom, where, when and how they were marketed, but sports were given mostly free reign (and even got to write off marketing expenses against their tax bills in some states). This was because those operators managed to convince states that they needed to "build" the sports betting market. But that market already existed (which is why it needed to be regulated!). I'll go to my grave regretting my assumption, and I agree with the members who think that we should take a more serious look at how the industry - all of it - is marketed.
