Major negative change for creativity, and removes some skill expression. Nature reveals massive information. Now creative EV training like Jolly incin, bold Floette, modest vs timid are now easier to flowchart and lose their surprise.

@GabbySnyder @Pokemon_Champs My feedback is: go back to closed sheets and leave the ingame ladder alone. Next step is to show my opponent my entire spreads, the damage calcs and tell them my leads before each game.

If you have feedback about this please post below and I'll do my best to pass it along - my biggest concern personally is just how different the @Pokemon_Champs in-game ladder is now from IRL tournaments. I would really, really love to see OTS in game to fix this!

First we started with OTS, the skill to figure out information and handle it properly and strategically in a bo3 setting was punished, it also hurt creativity in team building (some people call it "cheese") and now we apparently have to also give the nature information to our opponents in the OTS. I don't like this direction at all. At this point, let's make it fully open and tell me your speed, attack stats and defenses please. The game I loved is dying 😭

A huge part of the Showdown player base are serious players looking for quick practice and quick laddering. You find a lot more casual players (new or old) ingame. I havent played a single ladder game in Showdown with the Champions format for example.

Is it me or the way people play on Showdown vs In-game are completely different? Lately feels like in-game players are making the most random plays and getting rewarded for it vs showdown where I feel the plays are more in-line to what I'm expecting.

I think a lot of times people confuse being bad with being outclassed. Pokémon like Primarina, Umbreon, Scrafty, are not bad. They are just outclassed by better Pokémon in general. But they can have a niche and be good at it. The bad Pokémon aren't good even at their niche.

VGC does not reward being creative and off meta for the sake of being creative and off meta. Unless you are in the top 10% of teambuilders just use the stuff that is good if you want to win.

@PokeReplaysVGC I get the point in general. I'm the guy who runs Flamethrower on Delphox and no Rock Slide on Garchomp to avoid the RNG (yeah I miss a lot). But in the end some RNG is unavoidable even if you try to play around.

I think, like most moments of RNG in Pokémon, a lot of it is that you have to learn to play around it. For example, if your opponent's out is to get a double protect. Try to call it Drain Punch your own Pokémon for more health, attack the other slot, etc.

@PokeReplaysVGC Yeah but that doesn't avoid the RNG, it's still a gamble. You predict wrong and you lose a game you'd have won had you just attacked. All because you were scared they'd hit a 33% chance. I don't think making risky reads is the way to avoid RNG, that's all.

@PyreonPT I have seen many high-level players predict double protects. Obviously, it's never as simple as X=Y. But I prefer to play Pokémon less about statistics and more about playing the person behind the screen. If you know it's there, out don't let them use it.

So I barely played after this, but I really enjoyed how this team worked. Had tools into many matchups, especially some of the weird ones in low ladder, Primarina did very well patching up the team in that regard. Farig + Phox with Prim + Gambit in back was my most common plan.

Probably the universe saying it's time to call it quits. Team was really solid, even with the hax both games were winnable if I managed the endgame better. So I'm still quite happy with the overall synergy of the team as it is. Feel free to have a go with it.
