Back in hospital for my PET scan. It’s hard to believe it’s coming up to four years since my Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer diagnosis and these moments never get any easier.
Living with cancer often means living from scan to scan and hoping beyond hope that the treatment is still working.
It can be a strange space to exist, trying to live a full life while carrying that constant weight of uncertainty in the background.
I’d really appreciate any positive vibes, good thoughts and wishes today! Thank you 🩷

“I lost my Husband on December 22nd, 2024. He was a Vietnam Veteran and had many health problems due to Agent Orange.
The last thing he was diagnosed with was MDS Syndrome. It has to do with a Blood Cancer. He only lived a month after that diagnosis but also had a Gallbladder infection. He ended up being on a ventilator for 72 hours and when they couldn't take him off and his Kidneys failed. Myself and our 4 Sons made the hardest decision of our lives to take him off and let Him go. He lived for 8 minutes after they took Him off the respirator.
We were Married for 53 years and 7 months and 7 days. We would've been celebrating our 54th Anniversary on May 15th. In those years we went through the In Sickness and Health, For Better For Worse, For Richer For Poorer. The Til Death Do Us Part came a lot sooner than I hoped for.
We got through these years By the Grace of God and To God Be All the Glory. He was my One and Only, My Soul Mate, and Best Friend, My Sweetheart! All I know is that I will miss Him for the rest of my life.”

In 2013, U.S. Army Green Beret Nick Lavery stepped in front of machine gun fire during an insider attack in Afghanistan, saving a teammate but losing his own leg.
The burst shattered his leg and severed his femoral artery, forcing an above-the-knee amputation to save his life.
Instead of retiring, Lavery underwent more than 30 surgeries and intense rehabilitation, determined to return to duty.
By 2015, he became the first above-the-knee amputee in U.S. military history to return to active combat, later completing elite training courses and continuing his service.

I am home after 19 harrowing days in hospital where I stopped breathing after surgery and spent 10 days in the ICU. My hair is growing back patchily after chemo made me bald. I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck and can only walk slowly. That was hard but necessary to remove the cancer in my stomach, so I don’t really have a stomach anymore. My weirdest symptom today is “an impending sense of doom” every time I eat. It’s a thing apparently. I hope that goes away before I develop an eating disorder. Anyway I’m so happy to be alive and with my family again! Thanks to everyone for their support and kind words. ❤️
