Nobody who claims Israel is not an apartheid state can explain to you from a policy or logical perspective why it is not an apartheid state. The word just hurts their feelings.

Well, it's quite amazing that some of the biggest voices skeptical of Covid restrictions, who used to be thought of as rational, intelligent contrarians, have gone off the rails. And of course it's the Jooo's fault . . .

@camkasky You want to redefine apartheid to include non-citizens. The Palestinians in Gaza/West Bank are not Israeli citizens. The Arabs: Muslim, Christian or whatever, who are Israeli citizens are equal to Jewish Israeli citizens. Now the facts are straight you can attempt to squirm.

@zgubidanko @camkasky False. Mixed religious marriages aren't performed in Israel (because Ottoman Millet system). Mixed marriages from other jurisdictions are recognized & sanctioned. Even secular marriages aren't performed in Israel because marriage is under the various religious authorities.

"No enemies TO the right" would make a lot more sense if it was "No enemies ON the right." It's just completely bizarre to be told you should use a soft hand with literal National Socialists - on some "Gee, Officer Krupke" shite - but Chris Rufo or TERF allies are fair game.

@DanBurmawy The original Zionists were Atheists, even anti-religious. That's why so many in the Ultra-Orthodox world don't support Zionism or Israel. The Zionists worldview didn't have Religious motives. They didn't speak the language of religion or understand it when it was spoken to them

I recently met with an Israeli diplomat and adviser to the Israeli government, who is also the president of an organization that operates in Israel and the United States. As I was explaining the theological nature of the war against Israel, he told me: “After October 7, we realized that it was a theological war.” This was not just a random Israeli; this was someone who, for decades, has been close to the inner circles of decision-makers in Israel. I will never understand how it took Israelis 80 years to realize that this was a religious war, not only against them, but against the entire non-Muslim world. Tucker Carlson just published an interview with an Israeli diplomat whose language sounded more like that of a philosopher detached from reality. According to him, it is Israel’s fault that there was no peace because Israel did not properly respond to Arab peace initiatives. Which peace initiatives? Sadat? Israel returned Sinai, welcomed him to speak at the Knesset, and he was assassinated by the Muslim Brotherhood because he stretched his hand in peace. Oslo? Rabin was assassinated yes, but later Ehud Barak, at Camp David II, offered Arafat far more than what Rabin had offered in Oslo, yet Arafat walked away. It is simply sad to see people who can't grasp the nature of this war, a war that has cost them catastrophe after catastrophe for 80 years.

@GadSaad People change over time - otherwise we wouldn't engage in discussions. The exchange of ideas is supposed to develop our minds & ideas. Sadly some get waylaid by bad arguments, influence, laziness, frustration, anger, etc. "past performance is not indicative of future results"

I have obviously been exposed to the worst manifestations of Jew-hatred imaginable beginning in my childhood in Lebanon. But I must say that seeing people whom I have been on very friendly terms, and in some instances have promoted their voices, delve into Nazi-level Jew-hatred is tough to process. How did I sit down at a table with such an individual? Did they hate me then but hide it? Or did they develop their current positions recently?

Contemporary antisemitism in the US is mostly due to the actions of the state of Israel. Hatred of Jews wouldn’t be the problem it is had we not let Israel slap the Star of David on the flag of a nation that ethnically cleansed 750K ppl at the moment of its birth

Everyone disagreeing about war with Iran are missing the most important point "we achieve martyrdom or victory. Both are victories for us." The enemy thinks they framed the conflict so we cannot win The way to win? Give them the victory of martyrdom & remove the threat to us
Haviv Rettig Gur@havivrettiggur

This is muqawama. As Qassam himself is believed by Palestinians to have said moments before he was killed in a 1935 firefight with British police officers trying to bring him to justice for murder, “jihad is victory or martyrdom.” This is the core idea of the regime. Here’s an explainer: youtu.be/YvRDJhPUpjU?si…

So sick of being called antisemitic by Jews just for criticizing Israel. Then again, what more would you expect from these bloodthirsty, money-grubbing demons who killed the Baby Jesus, JFK, and Charlie Kirk, and now manipulate everyone on earth (except me and some podcasters).

@elderofziyon It's called "The Cure is Worse than the Disease", or "Everything is Tradeoffs". Also in this pantheon of simplistic "thinking" is "If it isn't Perfect don't do it!" This is a combination of cowardice and neo-Marxist framing (but I repeat myself).

When you look at most arguments online, you see someone saying that something is bad. But they almost never mention the alternatives, that might be worse. This is what I'm calling the One-Dimensional Moral Fallacy: the reduction of a multi-value moral situation to a single axis, with all competing values quietly erased before the argument even begins. The result looks like moral reasoning. Structurally, it's closer to fraud. Bernie Sanders recently posted that the Iran war cost $22.8 billion — enough for Medicaid for 6.8 million kids, 2.6 million housing units, and so on. This looks like an economic argument. It's actually a moral one: opportunity cost → foregone social goods → therefore the war was wrong. But that syllogism only works if you erase the other side of the ledger entirely. He says X > Y without ever defining Y. What does a nuclear-armed Iran cost? He doesn't say, because on his single axis — economic equality — it doesn't register. The same fallacy dominates discourse about Israel. Palestinian civilian deaths matter — and on the single humanitarian axis the critics have selected, they're not wrong. But Israeli lives aren't on their scale at all. Every military in history, and every parent who has ever protected their child over a stranger, operates on concentric circles of obligation. Condemning Israel for doing what every state does, while pretending universalism is the only legitimate framework, is the fallacy in its most dishonest form. Serious moral reasoning requires naming all the values, placing them on the scale, and arguing openly about how to weigh them. If only one dimension is mentioned, it isn't an argument. It's polemic. Full post link follows.

@rachelbsol18 It's never been about Israelis or Israeli leaders. It's all about the Palestinians - the people and the leaders. All discussions of Peace and future plans are worthless fantasy until there is a viable Palestinian partner.

Can anyone please show me credible evidence that the tiny country of Israel, which is the size of New Jersey with a population of 10 million people (of which 25% are not even Jewish, mind you), somehow owns the government of the single greatest superpower the world has ever known. Because without some sort of evidence beyond “they blackmail us,” “because AIPAC owns politicians,” and “some influencers say so,” making this claim would be like making the claim that Armenia controlled the Roman Empire in their prime. It’s asinine.
