Alabama football players Qua Russaw, Wilkin Formby, LT Overton, Tim Keenan, Richard Young, and Kadyn Proctor accomplished something extraordinary this past Saturday.
Instead of taking a day off from their football responsibilities, these players drove 1.5 hours to spend time with a young man named Will, who is battling cancer and will undergo surgery in April in Houston, Texas, to have his femur removed. Will was having a farewell party with some of his friends in the community, which they called Farewell Femur.
Rather than enjoying leisure activities and a weekend away from football, the players dedicated the entire day to fishing, shooting skeet, wrestling with Will and his friends, playing pool, and participating in various games. They also took time to encourage Will as he prepares for his surgery.
One of the most powerful moments of the day came when the Alabama players laid hands on Will and prayed for him, asking God to support him through this challenging time.
Will's parents expressed their deep gratitude to Wilkin, Qua, Richard, LT, Tim, and Kadyn for spending time with their son, family and friends. They also noted how polite and respectful the players were throughout the entire day.
Coach Kalen DeBoer must be incredibly proud to see his players giving back to the community. Each week during the football season, DeBoer and his staff invite a special child to participate in a portion of practice. Seeing the smiles on these young people's faces is always heartwarming. Their smiles reflect the values that DeBoer instills in his players and his program, emphasizing the importance of helping others.
Well done, gentlemen!
Let's all keep Will in our thoughts and prayers as he and his family travel to Houston for his surgery. Let's believe in the power of healing and ask God to touch this special Alabama fan.
Thank you, Wilkin, Qua, Tim, LT, Richard, and Kadyn, for representing the University of Alabama with class. More importantly, thank you for being people of faith and for sharing the love of Jesus Christ with Will before he faces this significant surgery and his ongoing battle with cancer.
Roll Tide, Will!
I pray for strength for Will as he continues his courageous battle with cancer.
Please share this so more people can see Will's story and pray for healing for this young Alabama fan.
