Exciting news! I’m starting a new journey as a tenure-track Assistant Professor at @dfis_polimi! Grateful for my time as a researcher at @QuantumMinions and @SapienzaRoma and the amazing colleagues who supported me. Looking forward to new challenges and collaborations!

This week our master and PhD students enjoyed a great experience at the Quantum NEST School hosted by the Ettore Majorana Foundation in Erice universite-paris-saclay.fr/quantum-nest-2… They had a great time meeting fantastic speakers, learning a lot, but also, you know, when in Sicily...

Walking back upstairs, we meet Carola in her office, busy as always: she is a natural problem solver and there is no bureaucratic conundrum that she can't handle!

Time for another well-deserved break. Let's go for a stroll in the beautiful Physics Department "zen garden" and say hi to the turtles!

We cross the door and, in the other lab, we find Mattia, absorbed in his work. There is no dot he can not excite and he is afraid of nothing. No kidding, he is scary.

Lab Time! Let's visit our heroic PhDs. Giuseppe is all about 2D materials, a big fan of light polarization and always ready to lend a hand. But sometimes it is hard to keep up and he has to ask for help. Cheer up, Peppe, you're the best!

Of course, PostDocs need to start their morning with coffee, too; and alongside the coffee machine, we find Alessandro. He is in a complicated relationship with quantum dots, but he is fond of math and writing. Go to him if you need a break: he's always up for that!

Francesco is already in his office writing, thinking...he Is a Researcher, too, and he always hands out great feedback to any question: he usually points out how the things you are doing are wrong in this and that regard, but I guess someone has to do that, right?

Look, Michele just arrived on his bike! Michele is a Researcher and he has expertise on a wide variety of topica: he can deal with optics and sample growth as well as with hydraulics and electronics (but don't let him get too close to your PC, he likes to open them).

How's a day in the life of @QuantumMinions? First of all, we have to get to the Lab. In Rome, that is not straightforward: whether you come by car, bus or train, you know when you leave, but you never know when you'll arrive. #QuanTour #SUPERquantum #QTorch

As entangled photons become a more exploitable resource, we can use them for practical purposes, such as sharing secret keys between two parties.

One technical approach we develop and use is pulling and stretching our samples. Yes, one can do that even with apparently brittle and rigid materials such as the ones we use!

If you are following QuanTour from its start, you have already met the quantum dot: a nanostructure made of tens of thousands of atoms. We are interested in how they emit entangled photons.
