- 81% of Somali-headed households in Minnesota use at least one major welfare program
- 54% receive food stamps
- 73% have Medicaid
- They live in extreme poverty, 38% of adult Somali immigrants in Minnesota live below the poverty line
- 52% of children in Somali immigrant homes are in poverty
- 39% of working-age Somalis in Minnesota have no high school diploma
- Nearly 60% of working-age Somalis speak English “less than very well”
- Somalis are 400% more likely to commit a crime than white people
