We were being flooded with help requests due to the deteriorating situation with queer people’s rights while desperately lacking the resources needed to provide help. And then we turned to you for support. And you did help.

In 2023 Russia’s authorities made it a criminal offense to donate to LGBTQ+ organizations, which jeopardized Queer Svit’s work since a large part of all of our donations came from people within Russia.

At Queer Svit we are proud to be a part of this fight and to be able to rely on you supporting us in it. Behind the numbers you can see in the picture below are people in need whom we were able to help thanks to you and your trust in us.

This Pride month, 55 years after the Stonewall riots, we say: the true pride of LGBTQ+ community is our readiness to combat violence and oppression, to fight against injustice and to have each other’s back in this fight.

What happened next became a part of queer movement’s history known today as the Stonewall riots. And a year later New Yorkers commemorated the events of Stonewall with the Christopher Street Liberation Day Parade, the first pride parade ever.
