The NC Utilities Commission — at Duke Energy’s request (according to security) — is barring anyone with an electronic device from entering the hearing room for Duke’s public rate case proceedings in Lumberton. Including media, who have been turned away. #ncpol

@CarolinaJournal I’d be interested in how the increases in local taxes stack up to funding cuts from state and federal budgets. My understanding from local officials is that a lot of the increased spending in local governments is compensating for shortfalls from above.

📊 Final numbers coming into focus in #ncpol HD-106: Sadler — 5,498 (72.3%) Cunningham — 1,564 (20.6%) Bowman — 539 (7.1%) With nearly all votes counted, @RevDrSadler is winning by a wide margin.

For comparison, in 2024, Pierce led Wray by only 34 votes, a total of nearly 12k votes. Wray almost certainly cannot make up this margin.
