As we watch things spin out of control in the Middle East I can't help but recall, and I've said it many, many times before and I'll say it again: one human being should not be able to have all this power. The Founders didn't want it that way and they were 100% right.

@SagacityForAll @dccommonsense If we’re fortunate, ineptitude. Prioritizing loyalty often nets you enthusiasm but not necessarily merit. If they want to wrestle the midterms - maybe they’ll underestimate the electorate or overestimate their taken measures. I’ll call the above the whimsical side of hope.

@QuidProNunc @dccommonsense This is what I’m worried about with the mid-terms. The only thing that saved us from a constitutional crisis on Jan 6th was a phone call between Dan Quayle and Mike Pence. What’s going to stop Trump when he knows he’s going to lose the mid-terms and all of America is pissed off?

@dccommonsense I agree. It all seems to be OK so long as those in power are agreeable. And there’s a part of me that wants to see the deterrence of accountability be crusaded here - another part dreads what someone like Trump would do this time around if he felt boxed in. Like the ol’ Rubicon.

@QuidProNunc There's a heck of a lot of people that are violating their oath to office these days. It's a pity that no one's ever held to account for that. But if we don't hold people to account for that… What do we expect? Laws without sanctions seem more like suggestions.

@dccommonsense I think this is more an issue of the American people/the Electorate. Congress wants to maintain their position, and Republicans don’t want to come out against Trump and lose votes. If it becomes evident that Trump loses the electorate/power - Congress will abandon him.

The overriding element that's allowed all this to happen is we have the weakest legislative branch in U.S. history. It's maddeningly passive &deferential.Even the opposition party(the Dems)are like (to quote Robin Williams) a traffic cop on Valium. "Stop. Or I'll say stop again".

@KentrellSpeaks @Alladdin1983 @EYakoby 1. I have NO idea how that kind of general opinion/vibe tracks through multiple languages. 2. Have you seen any of the Epstein Files? The supposed elite pedo ring is FULL of the most dogshit level grammar. Unless you attribute that same judgment those email writers, as well.

@YadnamOebar @denis_kasala @GPX_Press Pointing out a fake story isn’t the same as saying the My Lai Massacre or other atrocities/war crimes didn’t happen. Spreading fake stories takes attention away from the real victims, and makes lessons harder to learn.

@denis_kasala @GPX_Press I won't even argue with you about this one! You don't believe this war crime? What about the "My Lai" massacre? They killed a whole village! It is even documented in Wikipedia! You don't like it too? Shall I pile to you even more documented war crimes?

@thepondering_ ICE Barbie is dumb, though. I think there’s plenty of other material to draw better criticisms or names from. None of this is to say that the Right has any problem going as low or lower. Drawing attention to this of all things is ridiculous of my Senator.

@VTHistory25 @RealJayDee3 @beatmastermatt I get what you’re saying. But the Trump Campaign/Admin has been playing with this (dumpster) Fire for years. This is why you don’t release stuff half cocked like this. Maybe they should have thought of that.

@dccommonsense @Hamroy7 They call out “TDS” as a hand wave - a means of simultaneously avoiding engagement and signaling to like minded observers to tell them “It’s safe to ignore this, continue to feel righteous.” Makes it a perfect bot/npc response. The true TDS is Trump Devotion Syndrome.

@Hamroy7 Every post you seem to say "TDS". You sound like a bot (and if you're not think of how repetitive you must be sounding for people to think that you are).

@WhickTv I think lumping Kyle in with Hasan is a bit extreme. The Left is allowed to be critical, but if they (as the LEFT) are endorsing the Democrat Candidate (as I believe Kyle did damn near immediately after she was the confirmed candidate) then that’s a reasonable position vs Hasan’s

@Cynical_History Lol and hey - I’m not talking about hateful tattoos (well, that I know of - kind of my issue with it) I’m talking about random shenanigans like - chicken wing or whatever else. They just want a/all the tattoos.

@Cynical_History Now I know I’m biased here, but I don’t think ignorance of this particular symbol = stupidity. But I’d say there is something to be said for how nonchalantly some people will tattoo something to their body. Anecdotally, I know people who certainly don’t discern before buying ink

No way this senatorial candidate didn't know he had a nazi totenkopf tattoo. Even if it was a 2007 mistake, he's had decades to fix it and regularly sees it in the mirror. He's a Democrat, so eject him. MAGA has worse culprits in power. Don't give them an inch by allowing this

@Cynical_History I’m not sure I can agree with the follow through of that What If as a general rule. Idk where we are supposed to draw the line of ignorance between the well known and more obscure hate symbols. I guess until we have that line I don’t blame voters erring on the side of caution.

@QuidProNunc Even if he is "just ignorant," he's had 18 years to learn. The symbol is literally the subject of "are we the baddies" meme. Remove him from the party

@Cynical_History Not running defense, just a serious question. I’m a fan of history, though not a huge WW2 buff, and I didn’t know that particular style of skull was associated with Nazism. In fact this is the first time I’ve ever seen it. Why in this instance are we sure he’s not just ignorant?

Of course Twitter shows attempts to defend Nazism, accidental or not. Luckily, the block button still functions. The glee I get from sending the target demographic of this platform into oblivion is basically the only reason i still post here
